From the East - Worshipful Master's Message (March 2009)
Brethren:
Once again, the month of March proved to be a special one for
Athelstan Lodge.
First, this month during our March Stated meeting we were
honored to have the Unity Gavel brought to our Worshipful Lodge
by the DDGM Robert J. Burns, PM. It is truly a master
piece and encased in a beautiful box. Even more special
was the fact that we were graciously allowed to use it for the
closing of our stated meeting. I extend our sincere thanks
through our DDGM, to the RWGM Stephen Gardner, for allowing our
Worshipful Lodge this very special privilege. I urge the
Brethren to visit the Grand Lodge web site where they will find
details of this great treasure.
Additionally, Brother Harry Feld, PM presented one his Uncle's
beautiful, hand-made gavels to our DDM, which is a longstanding
tradition that Brother Feld, PM has being maintaining.
We also had the opportunity to host Brothers Edward Gaughan and
Zeff Lazinger who fascinated us with their presentation:
"Assisting law enforcement in the investigation of cold case
homicides".
All of this was enjoyed by those attending our March stated
meeting. Happily we can say that we were host to 11
visitors, 8 of whom were from the LEAD Police team in New
Jersey. We look forward to seeing them again, when the
opportunity presents itself.
Please visit our website for photographs of both events which
were taken by Brothers Edward Bergman, PM and John Davis, whom
we thank.
Additionally, the website has been updated with a very
interesting article on King Athelstan of England.
An interesting project we have started, is the compilation of
the history of our Worshipful Lodge. We ask that our Brothers
contribute any information that they may have regarding
Athelstan Lodge's history. We hope to be able to be able to
assemble a "booklet" for all present and future Brethren to
enjoy.
For your information, we will be having an extra meeting on
Tuesday April 21st at 7.00pm, to confer a Master Masons Degree
and three Entered Apprentice Degrees. Please make your
best efforts to attend, as we hope to make a favorable
impression on our new members. We are planning to meet at
the Temple at 6.00pm, for dinner prior to the Meeting.
As always, I look forward to seeing all of our officers, as well
as more of our members in attendance at our Instructional
Meetings.
Fraternally,
Charles Tarragano, PM
Worshipful Master
